They said our presence meant a lot to them in terms of helping their party be a success. “They made it a point to acknowledge our hard work and treated us like human beings, not just servers. “I’m a huge fan of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, so working at their Gold Party year after year was such an honor and pleasure,” she said, per THR. She also said she faced sexual harassment. White people were hired instead, and she would later have to train them. In 2021, she sued the hotel, saying she was racially discriminated against and had been overlooked a number of times for promotions and better pay. Jay-Z has a responsibility to do better.”īefore the pandemic, Hov and Bey’s Oscars afterparty was the place to be, and has been known to be attended by Rihanna, Reese Witherspoon, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Travis Scott, Gabrielle Union, and Charlize Theron, and others.įormer Chateau Marmont employee Thomasina Gross served at Jay-Z’s event before. “They must move their event and choose an afterparty hot spot that treats its workers, especially Black women, with dignity and respect. “For Jay-Z to choose the Chateau Marmont for their Gold Party is shockingly insensitive,” Kurt Petersen, co-president of Unite Here Local 11, said in a statement to the outlet. The local hotel workers’ union is spearheading the boycott, which has seen support from a number of celebrities, including Gabrielle Union, Spike Lee, Issa Rae, Robin Thede, Quinta Brunson, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Roxane Gay, who signed the boycott’s pledge. Additionally, there have been claims of racial discrimination and sexual harassment. At the pandemic’s outset, Chateau Marmont let go of almost 250 employees and allegedly didn’t give them insurance or severance. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the famous hotel has seen boycotts for the last two years due to poor treatment of its staff. However, this year’s soirée will see a slight snag. While others went for slim & hot: Amber Heard, Karolina Kurkova (bad choice, if you ask me), Naomi Campbell, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington Whiteley (hers was actually ruffled).Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s famed Oscars afterparty is once again set to take place at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Other beauties went for big ball gowns: Isla Fischer, Madalina Ghenea, Hillary Swank, Reese Witherspoon (same one as the Oscars), Jennifer Aniston (same one from the Oscars). Naomi Watts changed into a black and gold sequined dress, and Anne Hathaway opted for a pale blue column one… which again (as the Oscars dress) did not impress me a bit. For instance Jennifer Lawrence looked amazing in that super hot fitted metallic gown.

In terms of fashion – some ladies changed from their Oscars gowns into something more sexy, comfortable but baring the same expensive labels. Natalie Portman, Kate Bosworth, Gerard Butler and his beautiful girlfriend, Romanian model & actress Madalina Ghenea, Miranda Kerr, Selena Gomez, Diane von Furstenberg, Bono, Steven Tyler, Amy Poehler… they were all there, looking fab and having a great time.

The Vanity Fair 2013 Oscar Party brought together loads of famous beautiful faces, from the A-listers (winners, losers, not nominated not participants) to models & designers. Except they’re all wearing famous designers and uber expensive clothes. Yet… it is much like any posh event we might have attended. Except that, once they go in… into that intimate, elegant, classic Hollywood atmosphere we don’t get that much access anymore. It’s sort of the same as with the Oscar ceremony: red carpet in front, for when the stars arrive, photographs taken, brief interviews mostly about post Oscar impressions or who/what they’re wearing et all. One of the biggest and most notorious remains The Vanity Fair Oscar Party. So after the ceremony ends, most of them are headed to the after parties. Right? Even the stars love a good gossip, delicious fattening foods and plenty of booze to let the steam out after a nervous-carrying event such as the 2013 Oscars. One of the best things about any event, red carpet included is the debauchery that comes with it… towards the end.
